My Copilot (student) budget is run out immediately on June 1st. It is so weird that my account is hacked!!!!

Not a hack. This is the June 1 billing transition that affected every Copilot student account simultaneously.

What actually happened:

GitHub switched from request-based to AI Credits billing on June 1, 2026. Student plan now gets 200 credits/month instead of unlimited-ish premium requests.

The new credit costs are significantly higher per interaction — especially in Agent mode or with premium models like GPT-4.1 / GPT-5. A few Agent mode sessions can drain 200 credits in minutes.

Verify it was not a hack:

Check your Copilot usage log:
github.com/settings/copilot → Usage section

If all usage shows your own normal activity, your account is fine — just drained by the new pricing model.

Also check account security just to be sure:
github.com/settings/security-log — look for any unrecognized logins or suspicious activity.

If security log shows unknown logins:

• Change your password immediately
• Revoke all active sessions: Settings → Sessions → Revoke all
• Enable 2FA if not already on
• Contact GitHub Support: support.github.com

If security log is clean:
Your account is safe. The credits just got consumed by the new billing system — same thing happened to thousands of students on June 1. You are not alone.

Credits reset on your monthly billing date, not on the 1st of every month going forward.
